GOSPEL LEGEND AND ACCLAIMED FILMMAKER TO SHOOT GROUNDBREAKING MUSIC VIDEO

GOSPEL LEGEND AND ACCLAIMED FILMMAKER TO SHOOT GROUNDBREAKING MUSIC VIDEO IN THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT
ALABAMA STATE UNIVERSITY’S RENOWN MARCHING BAND TO BE FEATURED

Stellar® Award Winner Vickie Winans teams with Award winning Filmmaker
Darryl D. Lassiter to create video highlighting her successful career in gospel music

(January 6, 2006) – Montgomery, AL - Gospel legend, Vickie Winans prepares to shoot her new music video, but with a different turn. The songstress will travel to the birthplace of the civil rights movement, Montgomery, AL to shoot the video for her new single “It’s Alright,” from her upcoming double CD “Woman to Woman: Songs of Life”. Scheduled to shoot on January 15th, the video marks a highlight in the careers of both Winans and Director, Darryl D. Lassiter. The two have collaborated on numerous videos and projects in a little more than a decade; including Winans’ Stellar Award winning Video of the Year "Shook" in 2004. Lassiter states, “working with Vickie is special, in addition to being an exceptional and dedicated performer, she trusts me to make things work."

An Alumnus of Alabama State University, Lassiter suggested shooting the video on the campus and featuring the university’s award winning band, the Marching Hornets. He acknowledges ASU’s tremendous impact to his career in film and entertainment. “It is quite an honor for me to come back to a familiar place - my alma mater - and work with my former band. If it wasn't for Alabama State University, I wouldn't have been able to produce any music videos, nor a movie.”
Lassiter, an award winning director, is also credited with starting the national craze of Black College Marching Bands with the original band movie PAY THE PRICE. While attending ASU, he played first chair in every band including the marching, jazz, symphonic, brass ensemble, and trumpet quartet, and won every major award in the ‘school of music’. “Those were the best five years of my life. Now people all over the nation will get a chance to see just how good our band is,” he adds.

Dr. James Oliver, ASU’s Director of Bands, was receptive to the idea to feature the Marching Hornets in Winan’s new video. “This will be the band’s first video. Everyone is very excited. A fellow Alum, I’ve always told Darryl that if there was anything we can do to help, to let us know. When he called…I immediately said yes. We did have some other events planned but I thought this was a greater opportunity. It will be excellent exposure particularly for recruitment and endorsements.”

Dubbed the hardest working woman in gospel music, Vickie Winans will release her 30-song double CD, entitled “Woman to Woman: Songs of Life,” for Sony/BMG Verity Records in August 2006. “It’s Alright,” the first of three chart-busting singles will hits radio this month. This percolating, urban inspirational track will have listeners up and dancing the winter months away as Vickie reassures you that regardless of what you are facing in life… “Jesus Made It Alright!”

The general public is invited to attend the open video shoot on Sunday, January 15th from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Hornet Stadium on the ASU campus.

SEQ GOSPEL DIVA RELEASES NEW ALBUM

Southeast Queens has a new Gospel diva and her name is
Lady Peachena.

Lady P. recently released her third Gospel album, "The
Bishop's Daughter," which she said is already
receiving radio airtime.
The album is a tribute to the South Ozone Park
resident's father who was a preacher. Her father
introduced her to music at the age of five when she
and her siblings formed a sining group known as The
Eure Trio. Lady P. and her sister sang while her
brother preached They performed at various churches
along the east coast.

Lady Peachena started her own record label, Platinum
Peachtree Records, and released her first album,
"Sincerely Yours" in 1984. Two years later, she played
her demo tape, featuring her single, "Save Me," for
Timmie Regisford at Atlantic Records.
"He offered me a deal for the single before the record
stopped playing," Lady P. recalled.
"Save Me" reportedly became a disco hit that was
played in many nightclubs in the 80s.

One song from Lady Peachena's second album, "Dancin'
In The Spirit," was recorded by Ron Winans and the
Family and Friends Choir. That song was nominated for
a Grammy Award in 1989.
Lady Peachena is now producing and starring in a
Gospel musical, The Great Divas of Gospel." The
performers have been together for 12 years and they
perform at various universities, colleges, and
churches. They tell the stories of Gospel singers like
Dorothy Love Coates, Albertina Walker, and Mahalia
Jackson, who Lady Peachena portrays in the show.

Lady Peachena said the shows are filled to capacity
because the crowds enjoy the music. The Great Divas of
Gospel will be releasing their album this summer, and
Lady Peachena is working on having it remixed.
