Hamilton, NJ. - Lady Peachena & The Late Show’s Gospel Choir should make a multitude of new fans with their new CD, “Jesus Lives in Me.” Lady Peachena started off this highly inspirational album paying homage to Gospel’s first Queen, Mahalia Jackson, by singing three of her biggest hits, “It Is No Secret,” “I Found the Answer,” & “How I Got Over,” with The Late Show’s Gospel Choir supplying sweet harmonies in the background.
There’s something for everybody on this album; the traditional hymns for the older crowd, and rhythmic upbeat Urban-Gospel songs for the younger fans. Lady Peachena’s powerful voice soars over all the songs. She poured out pure raw soul over the songs that she co-wrote with three known musicians, Joeworn Martin, Dwayne Gott, & Gregg Fitz. The future smash hit is the title song, “Jesus Lives in Me,” a driving Funk-Gospel rocker that she wrote with Joeworn Martin, who has written several hit songs for Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s Grammy-winning Love Fellowship Choir. With another LFT Levite band member, bassist Dwayne Gott, she composed the church-rocking anthem, “Watch God Work,” a song that’s reminiscent of Lady Peachena’s tenure with the Institutional Radio Choir. With former bandmate, Gregg Fitz, keyboardist with funk-rock band, Quazar, (she was one of the lead singers), (1977-78), she composed “Let’s Celebrate” and “Work Your Faith.” Somber ballad, “Many People Don’t Pray,” is a touching song that will surely grip your heart. Longtime friend & assistant choir director, Deborah Sargeant, organized most of the soulful vocal arrangements for the choir.
Since 1997, Lady Peachena has been a member of Love Fellowship Tabernacle of Brooklyn, NY, where Bishop Hezekiah X. Walker is senior pastor. She’s an original member of the church’s Rhema Choir as well as a former member of LFT’s Celebration Choir, and the Grammy-winning Love Fellowship Choir. This Grammy-nominated songwriter has produced 5 solo albums, 3 children’s choir albums, and this is her second production of The Late Show’s Gospel Choir. All of these albums are available on www.cdbaby.com, www.amazon.com, www.itunes.com, and other music outlets on the Internet.
Recently the Late Show’s Gospel Choir performed with Gospel’s First Lady, Shirley Caesar, singing a medley of her hits with Gospel icon, Kirk Franklin directing them at the GRAMMY SALUTE TO MUSIC LEGENDS at the Beacon Theater last July 11, 2017, in NYC. Former MD of “The LATE SHOW,” Paul Shaffer, was the show’s musical director. Rev. Shirley Caesar received Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award along with honorees Sly Stone, Charlie Pride, the late Nina Simone, & others. This spectacular show was filmed by PBS TV’S “GREAT PERFORMANCE” concert series that will air it later this Fall on WNET/Channel 13.
