GMWA comes to Atlanta, GA!


 “GMWA SERVES Atlanta 2014”

Bishop Albert L. Jamison Sr., The Board of Directors, and Team “GMWA Serves” are pleased to announce the Launch of its 6th Annual Community Volunteer Project in Atlanta, GA. 

After an overwhelming success over the past five years, “GMWA SERVES” continues with great expectation to help hundreds in need in Atlanta. 10 local organizations have been chosen to receive support through volunteerism of at least 200 volunteer GMWA Ambassadors for what Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and local officials will honor as “GMWA Serves Atlanta Community Service Day.”

The Press Conference will be held in Atlanta on Friday, July 25, 2014, 4pm at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel In “The Learning Center” to announce the convention and the GMWA Serves project to the city.  Key attendees include the Hon. Mayor Kasim Reed –confirmed, the Hon. John Lewis, Member of Congress-invited, the Hon. Caesar Mitchell, President, Atlanta City Council-invited, the Hon. Kwanza Hall,
Nashville City Council-confirmed, Evelyn White, GMWA Atlanta Chapter Representative, Bishop Richard “Mr. Clean” national gospel recording artist, and local pastor, along with several local pastors of various faiths, and gospel music industry leaders. 

Volunteers will meet on Saturday July 26, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in the “Kennesaw Room” at 12 noon for orientation, and leave by bus to selected sites for three hours of service.

GMWA Serves Atlanta 2014 is dedicated to the legacy of the late “Rev. Donald Vails, an Atlanta native and Savoy recording artist, and Lady Donna Grady Creer, a nationally known gospel radio announcer. This year, a musical tribute is planned for Wednesday July 30, 2014, where several recording artists will lead the 200 voice mass choir musical tribute, including Min. Byron Cage, Dr. Margaret Douroux, Earnest Pugh, Bishop Richard “Mr. Clean” White, and Dr. Steven Roberts, among others.

The 47th Annual Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. (GMWA) convention founded by the Late Rev. James Cleveland in 1968, in the city of Detroit, convenes at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel Center, with a week of events that will offer seminars, workshops, exhibits and musical showcases presented by national chapters along with national gospel recording labels and artists.
