NONA
JONES RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM, “TAKE ME,” TO CRITICAL ACCLAIM
GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA- Dubbed by
multi-Grammy nominated, multi-Stellar Award winning artist/producer Ben Tankard
as “a tremendous talent who is positioned to be a front-runner in the music
industry,” new gospel artist NoNa Jones is making her mark with her debut
album, a 6-song EP, entitled “Take Me.” The album officially releases on
Tuesday, July 15, 2014 and a strong pre-sale is setting the foundation for a
potential debut on the Billboard Charts.
NoNa was licensed into the gospel
ministry as a Minister at the age of 17. As a songwriter, musician, and
vocalist, NoNa, now 31, wrote, arranged, and performed lead vocals for all of
the songs on her album. Her diverse influences include artists like Chris
Tomlin, Israel Houghton, Kim Burrell, Forever Jones, Lalah Hathaway, and Tye
Tribbett. Not the typical gospel artist, before launching her music career,
NoNa gained national recognition as a Federal and State lobbyist in the energy
industry, leading to her being profiled by ESSENCE Magazine as an “Under 40
Woman to Watch” and Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida’s “30-Something
All Stars.”
“Take Me” reflects NoNa’s love of
worship, with a heavy emphasis on vertically focused songs. The widely loved
“Here to Worship” (#2) has already found its way into the repertoire of Worship
Leaders around the country, while the title cut, “Take Me” (#3), has been
deemed a personal favorite and testimony of believers everywhere. The popular
anthem “Lamb of God” (#4) provides lyrical depth and production reminiscent of
Contemporary Christian hit songs, while “Breathe Again” (#5) offers an urban
contemporary arrangement underneath powerfully personal lyrics. “Overwhelmed” (#6) is a hauntingly beautiful,
raw love song with simple lyrics and simple production that never fails to find
its way onto repeat for listeners.
The debut single, “Be Alright” (#1),
has been extremely well received by music lovers throughout the country, with
radio announcers uniformly calling it a “hit.” The upbeat song carries the
biblical message according to Romans 8:28 that, when you are a child of the
Most High God, there is no need to worry when tribulation arises because He
will work everything out and it will “Be Alright.” It has quickly become a
highly requested song, finding its way into the Top 10 most requested songs on
several stations. Internet stations where the song can be heard include: www.EWordRadio.com, www.FreedemRadio.com, www.iGospelMusic.com, www.RejoiceAmericaRadio.org.
