Mississippi native son Ashford Sanders' life was forever changed when he won a spot as a contestant on the BET Sunday Best nationally televised singing competition. Sanders is now doing his part in giving back with plans to celebrate hometown talent as he hosts the first annual Mississippi Talent Showcase on Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Canton High School Auditorium.
Sanders shared some background around the event. "Having competed in a lot of talent shows, I can say the Sunday Best experience was a wonderful opportunity for me, I got a chance to meet some very talented and creative people as well as see how the process runs. I was thinking our youth need a vehicle that would bring them together, give them a chance to show what they got and encourage them to reach for the sky, so the Mississippi Talent Showcase was born. We had a great response with our preliminary auditions held earlier this month, now we are down to the final 7 that you will get to hear this coming Friday. In addition to a cash prize for the big winner, the contestants get a chance for one on one interaction with me as well as to be judged and critiqued by other industry insiders and veterans."
Sanders' new single, Because You've Been Good from his highly anticipated debut CD was released to digital outlets in February and continues to make impact at radio while he performs at theaters and concert auditoriums across the country.
