Detroit,
Michigan- Worship leader, teacher, song-writer, inspirational speaker, and CEO
of Path of Life Enterprises, Rashida Johnson releases the long awaited and much
anticipated 14 song project “Path of Life” during a live concert cd release
celebration to a standing room only crowd. Rashida’s “Path of Life” cd has
quickly become a fan favorite among contemporary Christian, gospel and
inspirational soul audiences as evidenced by download activity and
international airplay in Lagos, Nigeria and the United Kingdom to name a few. With a distinctively soothing and melodic
mezzo-soprano voice, combined with passionate contemplative writing and
inspired orchestration, Rashida’s music reaches the soul of her listening
audience with an inspirational message that resonates long after the song has
ended.
From the age of
7, Rashida has enjoyed exhorting people to draw closer to God and from that
time until present, she has spent every day responding to God’s voice and
leading others to peace and healing in His presence. As a versatile background
vocalist, she honed her craft by singing for various live recordings as a past
member of the Straight Gate Church Mass Choir performing with gospel greats
like Donnie McClurkin and Vickie Winans. She has also enjoyed singing in major
concert venues backing artists such as gospel music’s very own LaShun Pace and
country music veteran Lile Lovett. Presently, Rashida has come into a moment
where she is commanding a broader audience in her own right with her first solo
project “Path of Life”.
Rashida’s
commitment to authentic worship, musicianship and artistry is present
throughout the entire “Path of Life” cd. It is noteworthy to highlight the fact
that every song is written, arranged and co-produced by the multi-talented
artist, and because of this you get the sense of her personality and
compassion. Every song is an expression of her relationship with and deep love
for God and the world at large. The first track “Great I Am” encourages the
listener to take hope in knowing that standing on the Word of God allows you to
withstand anything. The title track “Path of Life” is a beautiful account of
Jesus being the way to everything necessary for life. “Path of Life” promises
to be a song of strength for years to come. The entire project takes you on a
divinely inspired journey with classical influences as displayed in the
timeless hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness”; to the unconventional yet
brilliantly skillful combination of spoken word, rock, rap, and smooth jazz coupled
with masterful orchestration on the track entitled “Fight From Victory”. This high energy track will inspire you to thrive
through adversity because of your position of already winning in Christ. The breakout hit single “Good Thing” shows
promise with becoming a cross over sensation. In this track Rashida creatively
describes the greatest love relationship in a way that is refreshing and
unconventional. With its easy-going vibe and appealing melody, “Good Thing” has
garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback from the international marketplace
specifically in the R&B and neo-soul genres respectively. The finale to
this project is “Good Morning God”. In
this lively song, Rashida is accompanied by her four children. This whimsical
collaboration makes it impossible to listen to this track without smiling. Some
reviewers have reported that “Good Morning God” stops babies from crying and
makes car rides fun as the entire family sings along to the infectious hook. Lastly,
it is impossible to overlook the masterful music production as performed by the
talented Gabriel Carter. His keen interpretation and skillful execution creates
a platform that allows the vocals and lyrics to shine magnificently.
When she is not
ministering on stage, Rashida is engaged with extensive community outreach
initiatives. As a sought after worship leader, teacher, consultant and
administrator, Rashida has developed a vast array of training programming for
non-profits and faith based organizations in the areas of at-risk youth based
mentoring and engagement, emerging leadership development and praise team
development.
In addition to
actively promoting her debut cd, Rashida is currently pursuing a degree in
Psychology while working for a local non-profit human service agency. Rashida
makes her home in Southeast Michigan with her husband and four children.
